In the film Enter Laughing the boss of a machine shop tells his young employee, who has just asked for time off for an “appointment”, that, “Every peanut in America has an appointment.”
Would it be too much to ask that we all agree to set aside one day each week (I will settle for one day each month) when everybody just stays home and is quiet, when cars are not driven, lawn mowers are not run, and earphones and earbuds keep electronic music and related sounds private?
